5‑Amino‑1MQ Late‑Day Dose and My Insomnia – Any Light?

I started 5‑Amino‑1MQ about six weeks ago at 50 mg each morning and 50 mg in the late afternoon. The first couple of days I felt a mild GI ache and a slight headache that only went away after a full night’s sleep. By week four I noticed that taking the second dose after 3 pm seemed to keep me wide awake well into the night – agresively so, I’ll be honest.

I’m 42, ran a full training block last month and still feel the same tiredness at the end of the day. I’ve tried moving the second dose to 10 am, but then the afternoon energy dip is real. Does anyone else see that correlation?

I’ve also read that 5‑Amino‑1MQ can increase NAD+ and might affect circadian rhythm; would a split dose or a lower dose in the evening′s help? I’m keen on it for the metabolic benefits but want to keep the sleep pattern intact. Any tips or observations?

  • grace_sleepnerd: I’ve had the same thing with a little later‑day hit of a peptide. For me the best thing was to drop the evening dose to about 20 mg and give it at 1‑2 pm instead of 3‑pm. It still gave me that energy lift during training and didn’t keep me up. I also moved my breakfast up a bit and made sure I had a little protein before the dose. just a tweak, not sure what you’re calling it, often makes a difference. What’s your food schedule around the dose?
  • kayla_s: I’ve been doing the same move, cut the dose to 20 mg at 1‑2 pm and it’s helped keep me from the post‑run crash. I’m usually on a protein‑rich breakfast, a protein shake mid‑morning, and a moderate lunch before the 1‑2 pm hit. Did you notice any change in your GI discomfort with that shift?
  • greg208: Yeah, I tried a similar switch – 20 mg around 1‑2 pm after a protein‑rich breakfast and a mid‑morning shake. The tummy gnawing dropped quite a bit, and I haven’t had that waking‑up crash since. The only thing that still nags me is the dip in energy mid‑afternoon – maybe a small snack helps? How’s your sleep been since the cut‑back?
  • greg208: Cheers for the input, grace. The 20mg idea at 1-2pm sounds reasonable, might give the 50mg late dose a rest. I usually eat a decent breakfast but skip snacks till lunch. Could the protein timing with the dose actually slow absorption enough to help? Gonna test the 20mg at 1pm with a bit more protein at that window and see if it smooths things out. Any thought on how long that adjustment might take to kick in?
